The International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO) is the inter-governmental organization whose Primary Purpose is the oversight of certain public satellite safety and security communication services provided by mobile satellite communication systems.

IMSO also acts as the International LRIT Coordinator, appointed by IMO to ensure the operation of the international system for the Long Range Identification and Tracking of Ships (LRIT) worldwide by auditing and reviewing the performance of the system.

Welcome to the website of the International Mobile Satellite Organisation (IMSO), which aims to provide relevant information concerning the Organization for Member State delegations, satellite communication providers in the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), Data Centres and stakeholders participating in Long-Range Identification and Tracking of ships (LRIT), and for the general public.

IMSO is the intergovernmental organization charged with the mandate to oversee the performance of all components and the availability of the mobile satellite communication systems recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for their use in the GMDSS.
