The Director General of IMSO Captain Moin Ahmed warmly welcomed a delegation from Mozambique to IMSO, today. He considers a visit such as this to be a useful forum for discussing issues of mutual co-operation between a Member State and his Organization.
At this visit, the Director General focussed in some detail IMSO’s business plan in respect of oversight function with respect to some of the public satellite safety and security services by mobile satellite communication systems, Inmarsat in particular; the coordination of the Long-Range Identification and Tracking of Ships (LRIT) System worldwide; and also in its involvement with other international organisations that are involved in mobile and maritime communication matters.
The visit of Mr Isidoro and the members of his delegation manifests the interest of Mozambique maritime administration on the GMDSS and LRIT systems. They considered it as a further consolidation of the good partnership and relationship they share with IMSO.
