The Director General of IMSO – Captain Moin Ahmed alongside the former Director General of IMSO – Captain Esteban Pacha, staff members of IMSO and a representative from Inmarsat, were most honoured by a visit to IMSO today from the outgoing IMO Secretary-General, Mr Koji Sekimuzu.
During the hour long programme, the Secretary-General also visited Inmarsat’s Network Operation Centre (NOC). Inmarsat’s Chairman – Mr Andy Sukawaty, Chief Executive Officer – Mr Rupert Pierce as well as Board Member – Mr Hamadoun Touré, paid their respect to the Secretary-General and extended their good wishes to him as his tenure of office comes to an end this year.

The Director General in his address thanked Mr Sekimuzu for the years of enabling a fruitful collaboration between the two Organisations.
In his acknowledgement, Mr Sekimuzu emphasised the importance and relevance of IMSO to the marine fraternity, by stating that “shipping needs the continuous good work of this Organisation”.
The visit ended with a cordial farewell reception as is befitting of a highly respected luminary of the international Organisation in the UK.
