Papua New Guinea Maritime Safety Authority delegation visits IMSO

Mr Paul Unas, the CEO and General Manager of the Papua New Guinea Safety Authority, headed a delegation to IMSO today, as distinguished guests of Captain Moin Ahmed, the Director General. They also met with IMSO technical officers who offered insight into the practical aspects of the LRIT system as well as IMSO’s role of Coordinator.

As is now customary, a tour of the Inmarsat Network Operations Centre (NOC), was incorporated into the schedule. This shows the IMSO/Inmarsat working symbiosis within GMDSS and other wider ranging maritime satellite aspects.

The visitors found this offered them lucidity in many areas of satellite technology, with particular emphases on the pragmatic issues affecting a Small Island State, such as theirs.

The visit was a success and further served the purpose of reinforcing close working relationships between IMSO and Papua New Guinea.
