Somalia accedes to the Protocol on the Privileges and Immunities of IMSO and its Amending Agreement

IMSO Director General Laurent Parenté is pleased to announce that the Federal Republic of Somalia has acceded to the Protocol on the Privileges and Immunities of the International Mobile Satellite Organization and its Amending Agreement on 26 June 2026, further strengthening the legal framework supporting IMSO’s global mandate.

This accession was facilitated with the support of His Excellency Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, Minister of Ports and Marine Transport, and Amb. Abdulkadir Abdi Hashi,  Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the United Kingdom and Permanent Representative to the IMO.

With Somalia’s accession, the number of Parties to the Protocol stands at 50, and 22 Parties to the Amending Agreement.
