IMSO participated in the Iridium Partners Conference

IMSO participated in the Iridium Partners Conference (IPC) on 17-18 March 2025, where the Director General, Mr. Laurent Parenté, spoke about Iridium’s role in the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) and IMSO’s unique responsibility in overseeing private companies that provide public safety services.

Recognized GMDSS service providers, such as Iridium and Inmarsat, play a crucial role in enhancing global maritime safety by delivering reliable communication services. These systems are essential for ensuring distress alerts are transmitted promptly and effectively, particularly in remote ocean regions where connectivity can be vital for the safety of seafarers.
