IMSO signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation
IMSO is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) on Friday, 28 February, during CTO Digital Week 2025. The MoU was signed by IMSO Director General Mr. Laurent Parenté and CTO Secretary-General Mrs. Bernadette Lewis.
As the oldest intergovernmental organisation (IGO) dedicated to telecommunications, the CTO has long supported digital connectivity and capacity-building across the Commonwealth.
During this event, IMSO Director General Mr. Laurent Parenté highlighted the critical role of satellite-based safety services and the growing need for international cooperation, particularly in spectrum preservation for maritime and emergency communications. The MoU will assist in facilitating collaboration on:
✔ Promoting awareness of satellite communication as a vital tool for safety and emergency response;
✔ Key policy issues, including the preservation of spectrum for distress and safety services.
This partnership underscores the importance of international cooperation in ensuring global safety. IMSO looks forward to working closely with the CTO to advance these shared objectives.
